Our specialisation

in the

Schmerzzentrum

Our specialisation in the Pain Center Schmerzzentrum am Kunstmuseum Basel for pain management

The family practice is always your first point of contact for the diagnosis and treatment of your pain. In most cases our treatment will ideally be carried out in consultation with your family doctor or a specialist.

Degenerative diseases of the vertebral column are probably the most common disorders. We also treat neuralgic pain as the cause or consequence of various diseases and secondary conditions (such as fractures).

In the Pain Center Schmerzzentrum we cover the following areas:

Areas of specialisation

  • Neural therapy, more information (in German) here

  • Complementary medicine: homeopathy, traditional Chinese medicine (acupuncture, tui na massages, cupping therapy), more information (in German) here

  • Assessment of pain problems with regard to drug and/or interventional pain therapy measures

  • Palliative therapy of invalidating pain with simple catheter systems and external analgesic

  • Optimization of opioid therapy (only in consultation with the referring physician)

  • Diagnostic-therapeutic infiltrations of the vertebral column and joints

  • Diagnostic-therapeutic blockages of the sympathetic ganglia

  • Diagnostic-therapeutic blockages of individual nerves

  • Targeted and mostly repetitive infiltration procedures on peripheral nerves or in the area of tendinopathies, myogeloses, bursitides and fascitides, in particular in the neck area, shoulder girdle, pelvic ring and foot

  • Intravenous administration of analgesics (e.g. Lidocaine test)

  • Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) (test phase, intervention, follow-up)

  • Multimodal evaluation with arrangements and without any detours among professional colleagues

  • Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in consultation with specialists, in particular lumbar puncture for cerebrospinal fluid extraction (CFS) and blood patch

  • Consultation for a second opinion

  • Consulting with regard to further measures of treatment

The Schmerzzentrum am Kunstmuseum Basel settles its accounts via the basic insurance, the so-called TARMED.
